Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before booking your pregnancy sculpture. If your question is not here, get in touch and Suzie will answer it personally.
Booking and your sculpture
What is a pregnancy sculpture?
A pregnancy sculpture, also called a bump sculpture or pregnancy bust, is a small sculpture of your body during pregnancy. We capture your shape with a gentle 3D scan, or from your own video or photos, refine it digitally, then 3D print it and finish it by hand. Ours come in 15cm and 18cm sizes, in the Ethereal and Elysian collections.
When should I book?
We recommend booking your session between 28 and 36 weeks. This is when your bump is well-defined and the sculpture captures the full shape of your pregnancy. If you are expecting twins, we suggest booking between 28 and 32 weeks. If you have left it late, get in touch and we will do our best to fit you in quickly.
Is the scanning safe for me and my baby?
Yes, completely. We use structured light technology, which is non-invasive and poses no risk to you or your baby whatsoever.
Do I have to be naked?
No. You can pose clothed, in underwear, or naturally. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable. Please note that once scanning is complete we are unable to digitally remove clothing, so Suzie will talk through your options with you before the session begins.
How long does the session take?
We set aside around an hour for studio and home visit sessions. This gives time for a relaxed chat, a few scans in different poses, and a look through your options before you decide. The scans themselves take around five to ten minutes each.
How does the self-photo option work?
We send you a clear step-by-step guide covering everything you need, including lighting, distance, angles and poses. With a helper, you take a short video or a set of photos at home, at a time that suits you, and send them to us. We handle the rest from there.
How long until I receive my sculpture?
From the point your scan or photos are approved, please allow approximately 8 to 12 weeks for your finished sculpture to arrive. We will keep you updated throughout.
What if something goes wrong in delivery?
We offer a full reprint guarantee. If your sculpture is lost or damaged in transit, we will reprint and resend it at no cost to you.
Do you make mum and baby or couples sculptures?
Yes. Mum and baby sculptures are made through our self-photo option, with your baby asleep so they stay still, and priced individually. Couples sculptures are made to order at a custom price. Get in touch for a quote.
Do you offer an NHS discount?
Yes. NHS staff get 10% off their sculpture. Just mention it when you get in touch.
How do I pay?
There is nothing to pay online. A £100 deposit books your appointment and starts your digital model, and it is deducted from your final price. We invoice you for the rest. Full details are in our terms and conditions.
Can I give a sculpture as a gift?
Yes, and it makes a wonderful one. Visit our gift vouchers page to find out more.
Your session and the self-photo option
Is the 3D scanning safe?
Yes, completely. We use structured light technology, which is non-invasive and carries no risk to you or your baby.
Do I have to pose without clothing?
No. You can pose clothed, in underwear, or naturally. The choice is entirely yours and Suzie will never push you in either direction. Please note that clothing cannot be removed digitally once the scan is complete.
Can I bring someone with me to my studio or home visit session?
Yes, absolutely. Bring your partner, a friend, or your mum if it helps you feel more comfortable.
What do I need to send for the self-photo option?
Either a short video in two parts or 100 to 200 photos, taken by a helper from all angles around your body. Our self-capture guide covers this in detail, with pictures so you know exactly what is needed.
What if my video or photos are not quite right?
Suzie checks every video and set of photos before we begin. If anything needs retaking, she will contact you, explain what is needed, and guide you through it. We would rather take the time to get it right than push ahead with footage that will not produce the best result.
Can I see my sculpture before it is printed?
Yes. We send every client a digital preview before anything is printed. You can view it from all angles and request minor adjustments before giving your approval.
What if I am not happy with the finished sculpture?
Please contact us. We take quality seriously and will work with you to find a resolution.
How long does delivery take after printing?
From your approved scan to delivery, allow approximately 8 to 12 weeks. We will keep you updated throughout.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Yes, for self-photo option clients. Please get in touch for delivery costs to your location.
For London clients
Do you deliver to London addresses?
Yes, we deliver anywhere in the UK by tracked courier. If you are using the self-photo option, you will never need to leave London at all.
Is the studio really accessible from London?
Yes. Leigh-on-Sea is on the c2c line from Fenchurch Street. The journey takes around 50 minutes and the studio is a short walk from the station. Parking is also available two minutes from the studio if you are driving.
Do you offer home visits in London?
Home visits are currently available throughout Essex. If you are close to the Essex border, get in touch and we will let you know if your area is covered. For most London addresses, the self-photo option or studio visit are the best routes.
Home visits in Essex
Do you do home visits anywhere in Essex?
Yes. Home visits are available throughout Essex. If you are just outside Essex, get in touch for a personalised quote, as we have visited clients across the UK.
How much is the travel charge for a home visit?
It depends on your location, so we quote it individually. Tell us where you are when you get in touch and we will confirm your appointment alongside the travel charge for your area.
What do I need at home for a home visit?
A clear space of at least two metres, good natural light if possible, and access to a plug socket. Suzie brings everything else.
Are you near Southend?
Yes. Our studio is in Leigh-on-Sea, which is part of Southend-on-Sea, and Suzie offers home visits across Southend and the rest of Essex.
Where is your studio?
The Dawn Lister Therapy Centre, 1-5 Church Hill, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, SS9 2DE. There is a car park two minutes away on foot, and plenty of cafés and independent shops nearby.
Sculptures from home
Can I really get a pregnancy sculpture without a scan?
Yes. With a helper, you take a short video or 100 to 200 photos at home following our step-by-step guide. Suzie turns them into a 3D model, sends you a digital preview to approve, and we print and hand-finish your sculpture.
Do I need special equipment?
No. A modern smartphone is enough. You also need someone to help, a clear space of about 2.5 by 2.5 metres and good daylight. Our self-capture guide shows you exactly what to do.
Why isn't the self-photo option cheaper than a studio scan?
Turning a video or photos into a 3D model takes much more processing and hand refinement than a studio scan, often many hours, so the price is the same.
Still have a question?
Suzie personally replies to every message. There is no obligation, and no question is too small.
